Tech Start Ups Need PR
This story in TechCrunch is missing a big point about the value of PR to tech start ups. That is that good PR can have a real impact on revenue growth when it is tied to business development.
In working with VC company Village Ventures several years ago, they made marketing and PR central to the launch of their funds and investments. They even had an in-house marketing department that delivered added value to their portfolio. As part of their team, I provided PR support to a variety of start-up funds in markets outside of New York and San Francisco, the hubs of venture funding. We helped these young funds and the companies they invested in achieve notice in their local markets and throughout the financial markets.
To stand out, you have to make noise. PR amplifies and targets that noise so it delivers results.
